Rooney and Vidic sit out United training
28/04/2008
Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic have missed Manchester United's training session on Monday ahead of the team's crunch clash with Barcelona this week.
The injured duo, both of whom were forced to leave the field during United's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, are thought to be under assessment by the club's medical staff.
Rooney limped off in the second half at the weekend - to be replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo - with what appears to be a hip injury.
And according to sources within the club he is a major doubt for the Champions League semi-final second leg against the Catalan giants.
Vidic was stretchered off during the Chelsea game after falling awkwardly following a challenge with Blues striker Didier Drogba and he too is considered unlikely to feature in the European clash at Old Trafford.
The injury to Vidic is the latest in a string of problems endured by the Serbian centre-back, who has only recently returned from three weeks out with an ankle problem.
He was also forced to sit out the first leg against Barca in the Nou Camp last week after contracting a stomach bug and being rushed to hospital the day before the game.
