Rosicky 'may return in new year'
12/11/2008
Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is facing a further two months on the sidelines after undergoing more surgery on a tendon injury.
The Czech Republic international suffered the problem in January, forcing him to miss the rest of the 2007/08 season and Euro 2008.
And in a statement, Arsenal have revealed that Rosicky was forced to have more surgery on his leg and he may not return before the turn of the year.
"Tomas Rosicky yesterday underwent routine revision surgery in Germany," last night's statement read.
"The operation went as planned and Tomas will now spend at least a few weeks convalescing in Germany. Thereafter he will follow a tailored rehabilitation progamme devised by our medical team.
"Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to wish Tomas the best of luck with his recovery."
Rather than be downhearted, however, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger - speaking after his side's 3-0 win over Wigan in the Carling Cup - described the news on the playmaker as "very positive".
"They have taken a lot of scar tissue out of his leg and the vibes from the surgeon are very positive," he said.
"I think he can return in six to eight weeks."
