Rozenhal completes permanent Lazio switch
10/06/2008
Newcastle United defender David Rozenhal has completed a permanent move to Serie A side Lazio.
The Czech Republic international had been on loan at the Stadio Olimpico since January after being told by manager Kevin Keegan that he did not feature in the club's first-team plans.
Rozenhal was one of the first players signed by former Magpies boss Sam Allardyce last summer.
And despite featuring regularly under the former Bolton Wanderers manager, making 21 appearances, Rozenhal was forced to look elsewhere once Allardyce left the club early in 2008.
A brief statement on the Newcastle United website today reads: "Following his successful loan period, Lazio have exercised their option to purchase David Rozenhal."
Newcastle reportedly paid £2.9 million for the player from French side Paris Saint-Germain.
And according to the statement, the club have recouped the same fee from Lazio in moving Rozenhal on - despite him making only seven first-team appearances in the second half of the Serie A season.
