Scolari agent denies contact with City
07/05/2008
The agent of Portugal manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has denied he has been contacted by Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra.
It has been reported that Shinawatra is keen to replace current manager Sven-Goran Eriksson with the Brazilian next season.
Although Shinawatra has refused to comment about Eriksson's position it appears likely that the Swede will leave Eastlands following City's final match of the season against Middlesbrough on Sunday.
However, Scolari's agent, Acaz Fellegger, has been quick to deny speculation that the World Cup-winning manager has been offered a £3.2 million-a-year deal by City.
Fellegger said: "Nobody has contacted Luiz Felipe Scolari.
"Just as has happened in the last two major international tournaments [Euro 2004 and 2006 World Cup], Scolari alone will decide his future after Euro 2008."
Scolari was famously courted by the Football Association when they were seeking a replacement for Eriksson two years ago. But the 59-year-old refused to commit to a new job before he had completed his World Cup campaign with Portugal.
Fellegger says that remains the situation in this instance as well, although he welcomes offers from interested clubs, Fellegger insists Scolari's future will only be resolved after Euro 2008.
He said: "Any club who has any interest in Scolari is completely free to contact the coach.
"But the truth is that there has been no approach and Scolari has repeatedly stated that his future will only be decided after the Euro tournament."
Eriksson claims he plans to talk with Shinawatra about his future at the club at the end of the season.
