Scolari anticipating "beautiful" game
22/10/2008
Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has claimed this evening's Champions League fixture against Roma will be characterised by "beautiful football".
The Blues host the Serie A side at Stamford Bridge knowing a victory - coupled with a win for Romanian side CFR Cluj against Bordeaux - would leave the Italians struggling to qualify from what had looked to be a very straightforward group.
And while Scolari has called on his players to focus on securing the win at all costs, the Brazilian coach is looking forward to watching two good footballing sides face off in west London.
"We play beautiful football, but if we need three points in every game sometimes it is impossible to play beautiful football," he said.
"However, you will see a beautiful game against Roma because they play like Chelsea."
Scolari has been praised for his approach as Chelsea manager, which has seen the Blues adopt a more expansive style of play while maintaining the winning mentality they had under much-loved former coach Jose Mourinho.
And the former Brazilian manager continued: "I enjoy watching my team but I am happier when we win.
"It's a pleasure, not only for me but for the players, that people like Chelsea football."
