Scolari in no rush to add to Chelsea squad
08/07/2008
New Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has ruled out an influx of players to Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian, who has already signed Portuguese midfielder Deco, said he needed to get to know his players before making any changes to his squad.
"I do not know now how many changes I need, I need to know training and to know the players."
Giving his first news conference as Blues boss he explained it was impossible to truly know the qualities of Chelsea's players in his previous capacity as Portugal manager.
"On the other side you have one idea; inside you need to know the group," Scolari continued.
"Once I know their characteristics and the qualities, then I can say how many changes I want or need or who do we not need."
Chelsea have been linked with a host of big-name players this summer, not least Kaka, Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Andrei Arshavin.
But Scolari's comments have put the rumours on the backburner, with the coach also saying he expected Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard to stay at the club.
