Southampton footballers charged with burglary
17/06/2008
Southampton footballers Nathan Dyer and Bradley Wright-Phillips have been charged with burglary following an incident in a nightclub in February.
Mr Dyer, 20, of Briton Street, Southampton, and Mr Wright-Phillips, 23, also of Briton Street, Southampton, are alleged to have taken items from the staffroom at Bar Bluu nightclub in Southsea, Hampshire, on February 28th.
Police launched an investigation after two men were seen on CCTV entering an unlocked room at the venue in the early hours of the morning.
Staff later reported that £145 in cash, cigarettes and mobile phones had been taken from three handbags, which on the night of the 28th was hosting a concert by R 'n' B artist Kano.
Mr Dyer and Mr Wright-Phillips, who are charged with non-dwelling burglary, are both due to appear at Portsmouth magistrates court on July 8th.
