Spurs agree deal for Barca striker Dos Santos
06/06/2008
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Giovani Dos Santos from Barcelona for an initial fee of £4.8 million.
The Catalan giants have released a statement confirming the transfer, although Spurs are yet to confirm a deal has been reached.
According to the announcement, the 19-year-old Mexican forward will sign for Juande Ramos' side on a five-year contract and the fee of 6 million will increase to 11 million (£8.8 million) depending on appearances.
Barcelona claim the deal includes a sell-on fee of 20 per cent, which will be owed to the Spanish side if Dos Santos leaves within two years of arriving at White hart Lane.
This clause will be halved to a ten per cent sell-on fee after the first 24 months of the contract.
Dos Santos, who is thought to have been a target for Ramos since his days as manager of Sevilla, has been with Barcelona since his days as a youth player in 2002.
He made his senior debut for the club last season and is a highly-rated youngster who is expected to play a part in the Spurs first-team next season.
