Spurs complete Spanish keeper signing
12/08/2008
Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of veteran Spanish goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez from Real Zaragoza.
The 36-year-old joins as back-up to fellow summer goalkeeping signing Heurelho Gomes.
Before moving to Zaragoza in 2005, Sanchez spent five years at Real Madrid as understudy to Iker Casillas.
It was while in the Spanish capital that he won a Champions League medal and his solitary cap for the national team.
Brazilian Gomes was signed earlier this summer from PSV Eindhoven for the out-of-favour Paul Robinson, who has since been sold to Blackburn Rovers.
Spurs coach Juande Ramos has already brought in Luka Modric, David Bentley, Giovani Dos Santos and John Bostock as he looks to improve on last year's 11th-placed Premier League finish.
