Thomson a "huge doubt" for Scotland v Norway
06/10/2008
Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson is rated by his club as a "huge doubt" for Scotland's crucial World Cup qualifier against Norway on Saturday.
The playmaker has been in good form for his club in the last couple of months and made his international debut in the summer friendly against Northern Ireland.
However, Thomson was injured in a challenge with Gary Brady during the Gers surprise 1-0 defeat to St Mirren on Sunday.
He was substituted just before the hour mark, struggling with the injury to his left ankle.
And on the club's website, a Rangers statement confirmed: "The early diagnosis
is that Thomson is a huge doubt for the Scotland game.
"They are hoping that there is no major damage but the injury does look as though it could sideline Thomson for some time."
Scotland face Norway at Hampden Park on Saturday after a mixed start to their qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The disappointment of a 1-0 defeat to Macedonia on the opening day was abated by a better performance and three points from a 2-1 away victory over Iceland.
