Tottenham reveal four phase plan for new stadium

13/11/2008

Tottenham have unveiled further plans following their announcement last month that they intend to leave White Hart Lane for a new 60,000 seat stadium.

The plans, available to view on the official Tottenham Hotspur website, reveal a four phase plan that will see Spurs move into the new stadium before it is completed.

The Northumberland Development Project, which will have a consultation process with local residents before planning permission is granted, would also require the removal of two listed buildings.

The club will apply for planning permission for the new ground in the new year, and once that is granted will proceed with the phases of their plan.

The proposal says that phase one will see the commencement of construction of the new stadium, on a site directly to the north of their home.

Phase two would see the north stand of White Hart Lane demolished over the summer period and a pitch laid at the new ground, part of which would overlap with the current pitch.

The third phase would see the team begin playing in the new stadium before it is completed, but has a capacity in excess of what is currently available in White Hart Lane.

The final phase will see the new stadium completed over the next summer period in time for the start of the new season.

Aside from the new stadium, the complex will be home to a new club museum, new shops, restaurants, homes and public space.
