Two bronzes for GB eventers
12/08/2008
Britain's eventing team has won two bronze medals in the Olympic equestrian event in Hong Kong.
The team finished on 185.70 points, with Germany and Australia ahead in the gold and silver medal positions.
Later Tina Cook, who along with Sharon Hunt, Daisy dick, William Fox-Pitt and Mary King makes up the eventing team, won bronze in the individual competition.
The medals are the third of the day for Team GB after canoeist David Florence won silver in the slalom canoe.
Cook, who rode Miners Frolic, said she could hardly breathe out of excitement at the team bronze.
"For a young horse he coped brilliantly with the atmosphere," she said. "He was careful and listened to me even though he's has never seen anything like this. I know he's a careful jumper and I'd be disappointed with anything less.
"We were beaten fair and square but the whole team put up some brilliant performances."
Fox-Pitt, who rode Parkmore Ed, added: "It turned out fantastically well, not short of a miracle and we are very proud of our bronze."
