United file report to FA over post-Chelsea scuffle

28/04/2008

The Football Association have requested a report from Manchester United over the scuffles between their players and Chelsea staff on Saturday.

The incident occurred after the Red Devils' 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge, which brought the Blues level on points with the leaders at the top of the Premier League.

Patrice Evra, Ji-Sung Park, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes were asked to move by the ground staff when they were warming down on the pitch.

And this sparked a row between the two groups, which soon descended into violent scuffles that were caught on camera by media still present inside the ground.

"We are filing a report which will be sent to the FA," Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed.

"We are very happy with that, we are delighted with that. We hope the FA investigate."

Chelsea have already said they will examine CCTV footage from inside the stadium as part of their own investigation.

Now, the FA have also stepped in to say they would begin a probe into the events surrounding the unsavoury incident, although it has been confirmed this will not involve the referee's report of the game as he was in his dressing room at the time.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18571105-ADNFCR
