United tie-up deal for Serbia star
28/11/2008
Manchester United have gained a work permit for Serbia prodigy Zoran Tosic.
A United delegation, including boss Sir Alex Ferguson, attended the work-permit hearing in Sheffield today.
They successfully argued the 21-year-old, nicknamed Bambi because of his lean build, should be allowed to play in the Premier League.
Tosic had not played enough games to automatically qualify to play in England. The deal was subject to a successful work permit application as he had not played 75 per cent of his country's matches in the last year.
The Partizan Belgrade winger now looks set to arrive at Old Trafford, but details of the deal have not been disclosed.
United have issued a statement confirming they had gained the permit but no deal for the player would be completed until January 1st when the transfer window re-opens.
Tosic, who has 12 international caps, will join compatriot Nemanja Vidic at the European champions. He made his Serbia debut in August 2007 in the Euro 2008 qualifier against Finland.
It is believed the Tosic deal could also include Adem Ljajic. The 19-year-old Partizan starlet had a recent trial at Old Trafford and is thought to have impressed Ferguson.
