Walcott ruled out with dislocated shoulder
19/11/2008
Theo Walcott has been ruled out of England's friendly against Germany in Berlin after dislocating his shoulder in training.
The Arsenal winger was immediately taken to hospital where the shoulder was out back in place and a decision will be made on Wednesday morning as to when he will return to England.
"Our priority is Theo and making him as comfortable as possible before he returns to England," said England coach Fabio Capello.
"We are all very disappointed but the important thing is for Theo to travel home and make a quick recovery."
An FA statement confirmed that his club had been quickly made aware of the incident.
"Arsenal's medical staff were advised of the injury soon after the incident," the statement said.
Walcott, who scored a hat-trick on his competitive England debut in Croatia in September, had surgery on his left shoulder last year, and also injured in recently in Arsenal's 2-1 defeat away to Stoke earlier this month.
The absence of the 21-year-old is a further blow to Capello who had already seen Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard withdraw from the squad.
