Wight-Phillips re-signs for Manchester City
28/08/2008
England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has finally ended his three-year Chelsea nightmare by re-signing for former club Manchester City.
The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Eastlands for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £9 million - less than half the Blues' £21 million outlay in July 2005.
Wright-Phillips made only 43 Premier League starts in his three seasons at Stamford Bridge and will be looking to get his faltering international career back on track under new City boss Mark Hughes.
"Obviously I'm delighted to come back to City and I just can't wait to get started again," Wright-Phillips told the club's official website.
Hughes added: "I've always admired him and he's certainly been a target of mine since I came to the football club.
"To actually secure the deal and bring Shaun back home is a fantastic coup for us and I'm sure the supporters will be just as excited as we are to have him back at Manchester City."
