Wycombe appoint Taylor as new manager

29/05/2008

League Two side Wycombe Wanderers have appointed former England and Stevenage Borough boss Peter Taylor as their new manager.

Taylor, who left Broadhall Way at the end of the 2007/08 season after failing to guide the Blue Square Premier side into the end-of-season playoffs, replaces Paul Lambert at Adams Park.

Former Scotland international Lambert quit the club following their playoff defeat to eventual winners Stockport County.

And despite the disappointment of seeing Lambert depart, Wycombe managing director Steve Hayes told the club's official website he is "absolutely thrilled" at the new appointment.

"We're fortunate that a manager of his calibre was available and enthusiastic about taking the job," he continued.

"This helps to dispel the disappointment of missing out on promotion and losing Paul.

"It was important that we moved quickly, but far more important that we got the right man.

"As soon as we spoke to Peter it was obvious that he shared our thoughts about how the club can move forward.

"He has a wealth of experience at all levels from international to non-league and he has a reputation for honesty and integrity."

Club chairman Ivor Beeks added: "We couldn't have wished for a better appointment.

"I've heard nothing but good things about Peter and the whole board was unanimous that he was the right man.

"We had some outstanding candidates apply for the job, but Peter ticked every box."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18615288-ADNFCR
