Xisco: Don't blame me over Keegan
05/09/2008
New Newcastle United striker Xisco, whose signing was a major factor in Kevin Keegan's resignation, has called on fans not to blame him for the events of the last week.
Keegan walked out on the club last night after three days of high-level crisis talks.
Spain under-21 striker Xisco, a £6 million deadline day signing from Deportivo, is thought to have been brought into the club by director of football Dennis Wise.
In a statement explaining his resignation last night, Keegan said a manager should have control over transfer policy.
In an interview with the Sun, Xisco called on supporters not to hold him accountable for Keegan's exit.
"My dream move must not be tarnished by these rumours," he said.
