BAR car developments on track

31/10/2005

BAR have confirmed that development plans for their new car are on track despite reports to the contrary.

Team chief executive officer Nick Fry told the official Formula One website that work on the new V8-powered hybrid car is going well and a first outing should be possible in January.

"The car is on target to meet our launch date during January," he said, before adding that the team will continue using its 2005 V10 car.

Fry also took time to express his excitement at having both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello in place for next season, something he hopes will bring stability to the team.

"For the last couple of years we’ve had the problem of not knowing whether our number one driver is going to be with us the following year, which is always going to be disruptive," he added.

"Now we know Rubens and Jenson will be with us for several years to come which is very positive.

"I’m sure Jenson and Rubens will live up to their equal number one status and push each other very hard and thus on to greater heights."
