Ballesteros to return in Madrid
28/09/2005
Seve Ballesteros has announced that he is to return to competitive golf at the Madrid Open next month.
The veteran Spaniard has not played a tournament for the last 18 months as he has been suffering from back and weight problems.
But now Ballesteros, who has won the Open Championship three times and the Masters twice, has insisted he will play in the Madrid tournament in mid-October.
"I am happy and ready to return to competition," said the 48-year-old.
"I never retired. I was always going to return at some point and I think this is the best moment.
"I am at my best weight for the last 10 years and I feel better than ever."
On top of his Major successes, Ballesteros has won 46 European Tour events and played for Europe in the Ryder Cup eight times, as well as captaining the 1997 side to victory.
