Birmingham chief slams stars
31/10/2005
David Sullivan, the co-owner of Birmingham City, has slammed the club's players for their lacklustre efforts so far this season.
The Blues are currently languishing in 19th place in the Premiership, with just one victory to their name, and most recently lost 1-0 to Everton at St Andrews.
Manager Steve Bruce has spoken of his insistence that his team will turn around their fortunes in the coming matches but Sullivan has painted a grimmer picture.
"I really don't know if we are going to turn this round, I honestly couldn't tell you," he said.
"I can't deny that I'm extremely unhappy with our appalling form and the way we are playing. It's extremely worrying and I'm absolutely on the floor about what's happening."
Despite his disappointment, Sullivan did assure fans that Bruce will remain as the club's head coach, putting an end to speculation to the contrary.
"To suggest I want to replace the manager, or have even thought of doing so, is ludicrous," he added.
"He's got my 100 per cent backing. We are into loyalty at this club and doing something like that is not in the equation, certainly not this season.
"If we did go down Steve would be given every opportunity to bring us straight back up. Only then, in the event that we had a dreadful start, would I entertain the thought of replacing him."
