Button lauds BAR sale
05/10/2005
Jenson Button has claimed that the purchase of BAR by Honda will give him his best chance of winning the Formula One driver's title.
"Honda buying [BAR] is amazing news and really shows their commitment to winning the world championship," Button said.
"This team is my best chance of winning the drivers' title and it would be fantastic if we can achieve our ambitions together."
The 25-year-old British driver is currently ninth in the driver's competition, with just the Japanese and Chinese grands prix to go.
Meanwhile BAR-Honda are lying in sixth place in the constructor's championship.
Button, who was only confirmed as a 2006 BAR driver last month after a long-running dispute with Williams, will be joined by Rubens Barrichello, who joins the team from Ferrari.
"It's the final piece of the jigsaw for me," Button said of the BAR sale.
"I really believe we're going to be a big force next season. It's fantastic news. I can't wait."
