Chicago edge nearer World Series after win
26/10/2005
The Chicago White Sox are nearing a famous victory in baseball's World Series after notching up another win against the Houston Astros.
Chicago led the series 2-0 going into the third match in the best-of-seven contest, but quickly found themselves 4-0 down four innings into the game.
However, Houston's lead evaporated in the fifth inning with the White Sox finishing 5-4 ahead going into the remaining innings.
Pitcher Roy Oswalt was on the receiving end as Chicago registered six hits and five runs in the inning.
As momentum shifted between the sides it was Chicago that made the crucial break, with Geoff Blum hitting a home run on the way to a 7-5 victory.
Describing the moment as "the stuff that dreams are made of", Blum will now look to clinch the title in the next game beginning tonight.
Chicago's success in landing the game - the longest in World Series history - leaves them 3-0 up with four games to play.
