Cunningham: We must not panic
08/11/2005
Great Britain's Keiron Cunningham has said that the Lions must not panic ahead of their make-or-break Tri-Nations match against New Zealand this Saturday.
After losing their first two games, Great Britain must win at Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium by a big margin if they are to have any chance of making the grand final on November 26th.
However, after conceding a record number of points against the Kiwis in their first game at Loftus Road, Cunningham has said that only a calm and focused side will have any chance of winning.
"We've got to win these last two games now but you can't panic in these situations," Cunningham said.
"You've just got to grind out the wins and we've got to play our normal game."
Great Britain produced a much-improved performance against Australia on Saturday and only two late tries by the world champions sealed victory.
Therefore, the St Helens hooker believes that Great Britain have got what it takes to get to the final, starting with a win this weekend.
"We know we're capable of beating New Zealand and I think, if we play like we did against Australia and keep things a little bit tighter around the middle and tighter in defence, we'll go a long way," Cunningham added.
