Davis looks to coaching role
10/10/2005
Brad Davis, the Australian half-back who retired after Castleford's 36-8 victory over Whitehaven yesterday, has hinted that he is looking to coach the team.
After the game, which saw Castleford win the National League and earn promotion into the Super League, the 37-year-old star said: "This has been the ultimate highlight, no better way to bow out.
"Now I'd like to develop my coaching. I will have a chat with the club and see what direction they want to take."
Davis scored two tries in the game, one in each half, as the veteran led the Tigers to a comprehensive victory.
"You couldn't have scripted it any better," he added.
"I was really nervous beforehand, realising it was my last 80 minutes.
"I started the season with one goal in mind which was to get Castleford back into Super League so it's mission accomplished and I can ride off into the sunset."
Castleford coach Dave Woods quipped: "He's not bad for an old fella. I told him it would be his game."
