Dein confident Henry will stay
25/09/2005
Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein is "quietly confident" that Thierry Henry will finish his career at Highbury.
The 28-year-old French striker, who is currently out of action with a groin injury, has two years left on his contract with the Gunners.
But Dein wants to ensure that Henry continues to play for Arsenal beyond that period and is keen to sign him up to a new contract.
"We will be entering into negotiations very shortly," the Gunners vice-chairman told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme.
"Everyone would like a Thierry Henry in their team. We've got him and intend to keep him.
"He is a world-class player. We will do everything we can to make sure he stays here until the end of his career."
Henry has been linked with a move to Barcelona but Dein believes Henry will stay at Arsenal.
"I am quietly confident he will remain here," he added.
"Any time a player goes into negotiations, invariably right at that moment, other clubs come into the mix to make life a bit more spicy."
