FA gains Wembley assurance
29/09/2005
The constructors of the new Wembley stadium have assured the Football Association (FA) that the project will be completed on schedule.
A spokesman for the FA said: "Constructors Multiplex assure us the stadium will be completed on schedule.
"They are the experts in this area and we have to follow their guidance."
If the stadium is finished on time then it should be ready to host the FA Cup final on May 13th 2006.
A recent report suggested that FA insiders only gave a 50-50 chance of playing the final at Wembley, but the spokesman said: "We are working towards hosting the FA Cup final at Wembley stadium next year."
The original completion date was January 31st, but this has already been postponed till March 31st, after Australian constructors Multiplex ran into several problems with the £757 million project.
