Ferguson demanding wins
29/10/2005
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has demanded that his side win their next two matches so that they are full of confidence ahead of Chelseas visit next weekend.
Before the Premiership leaders visit Old Trafford next Sunday, United face two tricky away games at Middlesbrough then away to French side Lille in the Champions League.
With these games in mind, Ferguson believes that two wins would give his side the mental edge they need to overcome Chelsea.
"From our point of view we want to make sure we go into the Chelsea game with confidence so we need to win both games before," Ferguson said.
United face a tough challenge, however, as Middlesbrough always perform well against the Reds, with United only winning two out of their last five Premiership encounters.
Meanwhile, United were unimpressive when a well organised Lille side visited Old Trafford two weeks ago and played out a goalless draw.
Ferguson, however, remains confident that his side will be ready for Chelsea.
"The most important thing for us is to make sure we win our next two games and look at the Chelsea clash and say 'We're ready for them, let's get at them'. And I think we'll be ready."
