Gallas to quit Chelsea
09/10/2005
William Gallas wants to quit Chelsea at the end of the season and move to AC Milan according to The News of the World.
The French international defender has revealed that he is looking for a new challenge after being at the club for six seasons but it is widely known that Gallas has been unhappy with his contract, which currently earns him around £35,000 a week.
Gallas has complained that the club's most highly-paid players, including England's John Terry and Frank Lampard, earn nearly three times as much as he does and there were rumours earlier in the season that Gallas was willing to buy out the final year of his contract to negotiate a move elsewhere.
"I have to admit I don't know if I'll be at Chelsea next season," Gallas told The News of the World.
"I have six months left to take my decision but I'm 28 years old, and maybe it's time for me to look elsewhere."
The news comes at a time when Chelsea top the Premiership, having won all eight of their games this season, and have their sights on winning the Champions League.
Gallas is quick to praise this form but admits that he is ready to move on and he dreams of one day playing for Italian side AC Milan.
"There are some massive clubs out there who might prove tempting to me and I remember when a France team-mate told me once: when you wear the AC Milan shirt, it shows you have succeeded.'"
