Grip confident of remaining in job
08/11/2005
England's assistant coach Tord Grip has today spoken of his confidence that he and manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will remain in their high-profile jobs after this summer's World Cup.
Reports have speculated that Grip and Eriksson will both step down from their positions within the FA after Germany 2006, despite their current contracts running to 2008.
However, Grip has today denied these rumours by saying that he and Eriksson have no desire to leave before their allotted time.
"I can see him [Eriksson] staying," Grip told BBC Radio Five Live.
"I think so because he likes his job, that's for sure. For me, it would be absolutely perfect, I love my job."
Grip also took time to hint that Chelsea skipper John Terry could become the full-time national team captain after impressing at Stamford Bridge and leading England for the first time, albeit briefly, during last month's 2-1 win over Poland.
"I see him as a very good player, very good defender, and he's a very good captain for Chelsea, so why shouldn't he be captain of the England team?" the Swede added.
