Matterson gets Tigers nod
08/11/2005
Terry Matterson has been unveiled as the new head coach of Super League newcomers Castleford Tigers.
The 38-year-old moves from NRL side Canberra Raiders and has agreed terms on a two-year contract at Wheldon Road.
Tigers chief executive Richard Wright voiced his confidence that the former London Broncos skipper will prove an excellent choice.
"Terry's credentials are very impressive with extensive experience as both a player, at the very highest level, and coach and he is very enthusiastic about the challenge ahead of him," he said.
"Terry will join us as soon as possible when he has made the necessary arrangements but he has already started to look at the players who are available to him and we expect there to be some movement on team strengthening quite soon."
The coach himself added: "I am very excited about the challenge of working with the Tigers.
"The club has a very proud history and having won a return to the Super League has ambitious plans for the future. I share those ambitions and am really looking forward to linking up with the players."
