Tremlett ruled out
13/10/2005
Chris Tremlett has become the second England fast bowler to be ruled out of the forthcoming tour to Pakistan with injury.
The towering Hampshire paceman follows Simon Jones onto the crock-list, after failing to recover from hamstring tendonitis behind his right knee.
Chairman of selectors David Graveney said that the original Test squad was drawn up with the intention of providing cover for possible injuries to Jones and Tremlett.
"With this in mind we don't feel the need to replace Chris now that he has been ruled out of the tour," Graveney said.
"I've no doubt we can look forward to many positives from Chris once he has made a full recovery in due course," he added.
The 20-year-old Liam Plunkett of Durham has already been drafted into the squad to cover for Jones.
England may choose to pick an extra bowler to play in the one-day series, as a replacement for Tremlett.
