Warnock hit with FA charge
10/10/2005
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has today been charged by the Football Association for the fracas which erupted in his side's clash with Reading on October 1st.
The Blades boss expressed his displeasure at referee Grant Hegley after a late penalty appeal was turned down during his side's 2-1 loss at the Madejski Stadium.
He had earlier also confronted the referee after he felt that Steve Kabba had been singled out unfairly.
Hegley reported Warnock in his match report and a disciplinary committee today agreed that the fiery United manager did direct abusive and/or insulting language towards the match official.
Warnock has been given until October 21st to respond to the charge.
The news is hardly the start to the month he had been hoping for after being named the Championship manager of the month for both August and September this season.
He led his side to five successive victories last month which catapulted them to the top of the league, where they currently sit, three points clear of the Royals.
