Wenger threatens Mourinho with legal action
01/11/2005
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said he is thinking about taking legal action against Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho.
The Frenchman made his comments in response to an earlier suggestion from Mourinho that Wenger was a "voyeur" because he spent so much time watching and commenting on the Blues.
Clearly aggrieved by the comments, Wenger told reporters today he did not understand where Mourinho was coming from or what he had done to deserve such an attack.
"I find [the comments] out of order, disconnected to his reality and disrespectful," the Gunners manager said.
"I will see if I take any action. I don't know [if I will] but I will leave the door open."
Making his comments last week, Mourinho also suggested that Wenger was after his job at Stamford Bridge but Wenger strongly denied this speculation.
"I am not obsessed about Chelsea. I am very happy at the club," he added.
Wenger then turned his attention to, what he termed, "the changing values" of the English league brought about by foreigners buying English clubs, hiring foreign coaches and distorting the traditional image of the game.
He also criticised the press for "turning everything into a personal attack" and suggested that press conferences should be abolished.
This latest disagreement is unlikely to help heal what is already a bitter rivalry between the two London clubs.
