Wigan extend five game winning streak
29/10/2005
Pascal Chimbonda leapt in injury time to steal all three points from Fulham despite the early domination of the Cottagers.
The French full-back out-muscled the giant Papa Bouba Diop to steer in the winner from Graham Kavanagh's deep free kick.
Wigan continue their roll as the inform Premiership team. The last minute winner at the JJB means a fifth win a row.
Fulham were unfortunate not to have taken the lead in a good first half for the visitors. Steed Malbranque was a handful throughout.
Chris Coleman was furious that Wigan goalkeeper John Filan was not sent off in the 35th minute. The Sydney-born keeper used his hand outside the penalty area to foil a Collins John attack.
Wigan were without striker Jason Roberts and struggled to create goal scoring opportunities. Damien Francis and Andreas Johansson came closest until Bocanegra presented Henri Camara a late chance.
The Senagalese striker rounded the Fulham goalkeeper, Tony Warner, in the 85th minute but was unable to slide the ball into the net guarded by Alain Goma.
Malbranque, Radzinski, Diop and Collins John should all have scored but Paul Jewell will be delighted with Chimbonda's final act.
