Cink holds two-shot lead against the elements at Innisbrook
09/03/2008
Stewart Cink leads the PODS Championship on five-under despite frequent disruptions from weather conditions at Innisbrook.
Bad light caused play to be suspended during the third round this weekend, but the US star putted three successive birdies in a 69 round that gave him a two-shot lead over Australian Geoff Ogilvy.
Among the six players completing their rounds a day late because of the suspension are Brandt Snedeker and Billy Mayfair.
The two Americans are both on three-under and were playing the 15th and 16th holes respectively when poor light ended Saturday's play.
High winds and stormy conditions also causing delay and disruption on the Copperhead course on Thursday and Friday, with play on both days being halted and many golfers not having finished their rounds.
Cink wants to keep up the momentum ahead of the next round, the American told the Press Association news agency.
"I've got to keep pushing
My goal is to give no-one a chance tomorrow," he commented.
Winds reportedly reached 30mph over a 12-hour period during Saturday's action and only nine players currently boast a sub-par score.
Tom Pernice Jr and Sean O'Hair currently stand on two-under par, but defending champion Mark Calcavecchia is level with Bart Bryant and Kevin Sutherland on one-under.
