Duo share lead in Mallorca
26/10/2007
France's Jean-Francois Lucquin and Dutchman Robert-Jan Derksen share the lead at the halfway stage of the storm-hit Mallorca Classic.
The pair both shot five under par rounds of 65 to lie on nine-under.
Ireland's Peter Lawrie is tied for second place along with Denmark's Mads Vibe-Hastrup on nine under.
A staggering 54 players were unable to finish their second rounds because of the knock-on effect of yesterday's thunderstorms.
This includes Spain's Sergio Garcia, the pre-tournament favourite, who is on three under after 27 holes.
Irishman Lawrie, 33, said he is desperate for a high finish to qualify for the season-ending Volvo Masters at Valderrama next week.
"I played lovely last week and that's why I'm here really. I promised my wife Philippa I wouldn't be away for too many weeks in a row but there's a chance to qualify for Valderrama so here I am," Lawrie said.
Derksen, 33, said he was satisfied after carding 65 to add to his opening 66 despite three-putting twice.
"We used to play 36 holes as amateurs with no problem but it seems when you get to the pro level it's a lot harder," Derksen said.
"It would be nice to get close to a top-20 spot [this week] because a lot goes with it including [a place in] the British Open."
