Fine Rose run continues
08/09/2006
Justin Rose's purple patch has continued into this week after he carded another superb opening round to share the clubhouse lead at the Canadian Open.
The US-based Briton fired a seven-under-par 63 to equal the Hamilton golf and country club course record and reach top spot alongside American ace Jim Furyk.
Rose is coming into this event off the back of a fine performance at last week's Deutsche Bank Championship where he led Tiger Woods at one stage before eventually finishing a credible shared fourth.
Following an open bogey, Rose shot three consecutive birdies on the way out and that proved to inspire him as he carded an otherwise faultless round.
"Great start to a tournament, no idea it was a course record," Rose said after his fine start. "Seven-under the first day, all it is, is a good start.
"I came in playing well, had a nice week last week and hope to keep the momentum going. You have to keep moving forward."
Furyk and Rose lie one shot clear of a three-man group on six under, including Brandt Jobe, Nathan Green and Frank Lickliter II.
