Fisher challenges Broadhurst for Wentworth lead
27/05/2007
A late charge from Ross Fisher saw him share the top of the leaderboard with fellow Englishman Paul Broadhurst in the PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Fisher birdied five of the last seven holes at his home course to give him a third day score of 69.
Broadhurst meanwhile finished on 68 yesterday after scores of 66 and 72 in the previous two days.
The 41-year-old, who missed the cut at the Irish Open earlier this month, admitted afterwards that it would be a "miracle" if he triumphed at Wentworth.
"I hardly hit the fairway last week. Today I drove the ball probably as good as I have ever driven it," he said.
And Fisher, 26, said it would be a "dream come true" to win on the course where he was awarded a scholarship.
He explained: "I'm thrilled just to have a chance and to be in the final group is something I'm thoroughly looking forward to."
Australia's Marcus Fraser and South Africa's Richard Sterne trail Fisher and Broadhurst by one shot on nine-under, while Justin Rose leads the chasing pack on seven-under.
