Flawless Fisher seals second Tour win by seven strokes

England's Ross Fisher stormed to victory in the European Open by seven strokes at the London Club.

The 27-year-old carded a final round of 68 in blustery conditions to finish on 20-under par.

Spain's Sergio Garcia took second place after going round in 66, to finish one shot ahead of Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell (73).

McDowell is now in the final automatic spot in the Ryder Cup standings. South African David Frost has qualified for the Open Championship, which starts on July 17th, by finishing fourth.

But it was Fisher's day as he continued his sparkling form this week, which started with a course record of 63 on Thursday.

Fisher, who started the day three strokes in front, made a wobbly start with a bogey five on the second hole.

But the Essex golfer responded with a 60-foot eagle putt on the fifth.

With victory virtually sealed, Fisher sunk three birdies in his final six holes which included a holed bunker shot on the 18th.

Fisher said the birdie on the 18th was the end to a memorable week.

"I felt really calm all day, very composed, comfy with my game," Fisher said.

"I got my fair share of luck as well - at the last I was just thinking, 'Try and put it on the green'. I'm delighted.

"They say the second [Tour] win is harder. I might have made it look easy, but it certainly wasn't."
