Lorenzo-Vera maintains China Open lead as McGrane looms
18/04/2008
Michael Lorenzo-Vera has maintained his lead of the China Open in Beijing with a three-under-par second round of 69.
But he is being closely tracked by England's Richard Finch and Ireland's Damien McGrane, who are both still only one shot behind after matching the Frenchman's effort on day two.
England's Oliver Wilson is also still well in contention after he carded the round of the day with a seven-birdie 66 to move to within two shots of the leader.
Wilson's round, a vast improvement on his even-par effort from the opening 18, included four consecutive birdies in his final four holes, bouncing back from dropping a shot at the par-four 14th.
Austria's Markus Brier and American Jason Knutzon are tied with two other Englishmen - Zane Scotland and Simon Griffiths - for fifth on four under par.
Liang Wen-Chong is the best-placed Chinese player - tied for ninth on three under par overall - after carding a 68 on the second day to recover from his one-over-par first round of 73.
