Love and Couch share Greensboro lead
08/10/2006
Davis Love III shares a one shot lead with fellow American Chris Couch heading into the final day of the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro with both men currently on ten under par.
There are a further 20 golfers within three shots of the pair as the tournament builds to what should be an exciting and close finish, with so many within touching distance of the leaders.
During blustery and wet conditions yesterday Love was able to card a four under round which was only bettered by Sweden's Daniel Chopra, who managed to card a round of 66, leaving him in a tie for sixth at eight under.
It was something of a homecoming for Love, who attended college at North Carolina and was in charge of lengthening the Forest Oaks Country Club course in 2003 to 7,333 yards.
However he did not feel that this gave him an undue advantage, saying: "When you hit that golf ball it doesn't know who designed the course or how much information you have."
Love failed to make it into the US Ryder cup team this year and last won a tour event in 2003 but remains unperturbed and feels tomorrow may be his day.
He stated: "I give myself a lot of chances; unfortunately I haven't pulled it off enough in the past few years."
Couch will also be hoping to achieve success having put himself in a good position. His one and only tour win came this year at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
