Randhawa leads Champions Tournament as Tiger chases
10/11/2006
India's Jyoti Randhawa leads the HSBC Champions Tournament in Shanghai after finishing ten under par after the second round.
Randhawa lies a shot ahead of South African Retief Goosen and is two shots clear of world number one Tiger Woods, playing his first game for more than a month.
However, it was Woods who caught the eye in the second round, putting an indifferent opening day behind him to hit a course record 64.
The round of eight under par included four consecutive birdies on the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh holes, as well as an audacious eagle on the 14th.
Randhawa, meanwhile, built on his opening round of 65, with a solid three-under par to stay in front. The 34-year-old began badly with bogeys early on in his round, but birdies on the 12th and the 13th helped him stay on top of the leaderboard.
Goosen also looked strong in the second round, carding 67 to sit in second place on nine under, thanks to an impressive start which saw him pick up three birdies in the first four holes.
Woods is joined by New Zealand's Michael Campbell on eight under, while Padraig Harrington is just behind on seven under.
