Rose in driving seat
10/09/2006
England's Justin Rose leads by one shot going into the final round of the Canadian Open at Ancester, Ontario.
Rose, who shared the lead after the first round, shot a five-under par 65 to move to 11-under and climb back to the top of the leaderboard.
However, Rose faces a tough ask if he is to claim his first PGA Tour title with a pack of four players, including South African Trevor Immelman, just one stroke behind.
"It was an amazing start but when you look at the leaderboard my lead is not really a lead," Rose said.
"You have to be adaptable with your game and I'm always trying to adapt."
Rose opened the third day with three successive birdies before carding two more on the second half of the course.
He will need another good day if he is to claim the title as the chasing pack is breathing down his neck.
Immelman shot a four-under par 66, as did American Sean O'Hair, while fellow American Bart Bryant fired seven birdies on his way to a six-under par 64.
Jonathan Byrd is the other player on ten-under after a three-under par 67.
Elsewhere, England's Brian Davis slipped down the leaderboard as a two-over par 72 left him on three-under for the tournament.
Compatriot Greg Owen also fell further back as a three-over par 73 left him one stroke from the back of the field.
