Rose leads in US at half-way
21/10/2006
Britain's Justin Rose leads the Funai Classic at Disney World by four shots at the close of the second day on 17 under par.
Rose was able to build on his excellent opening round of 12 under which had established him at the top of the leaderboard.
He made six birdies in all, two of which came in the first two holes, while his only dropped stroke came at the 13th green.
Bad light forced play to be abandoned while Rose was still out on the course meaning he will resume later today with two more holes to play which could add to his lead.
Speaking after his round Rose said: "The enjoyable thing as a pro golfer is being in that focused zone," adding: "It doesn't come around every day or every week."
The Englishman was clearly delighted with his current form and hoping to carry that through the final rounds.
He said: "I had a little slow patch coming in, but it was tough. It was getting dark, so I'm looking forward to a fresh start."
The clubhouse leader is American Tag Ridings who improved one place on his over night position by shooting a six under par round, leaving him 13 under overall.
Compatriot Troy Matteson equalled the best round of the day to sit a further shot back at 12 under for the tournament.
If Rose can win this weekend it will be his first USPGA Tour title.
