Rose to miss Florida tournament
21/03/2007
England's Justin Rose will miss the WGC-CA Championship in Florida this week after it was revealed his back injury had not healed as quickly as first expected.
The South African-born 26-year-old suffered a "disc problem" in his back earlier this month, which caused him to sit out the last tournament in Orlando, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, last week.
And although he was expected to return in time to take part in the CA Championships this weekend, he will now set his sights on the Masters at Augusta which begins on April 2nd.
"Unfortunately last week on my week off I had a few twinges in my back, which turned out to be a disc problem and very common to all golfers," he wrote on his official website.
"This has required more treatment and rest than originally expected, so I have been getting intensive treatment this week."
Rose, who turned pro in 1998, is the current world number 31 and has won more than $5.6 million (£2.8 million) in prize-money in his career. He has made the cut in all five tournaments he has played this year.
