Scott and Durant tie for Tour title lead
04/11/2006
Australia's Adam Scott and America's Joe Durant share the lead of the season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta with scores of -4 at the halfway stage.
Both men were consistent on the second day enabling them to stay ahead of the field in conditions that were not conducive to low scoring.
Scott, 26, has not won a USPGA tournament so far this year but has been consistently finishing in the top 25 of events and said that despite the lack of victories he was playing the best golf of his career.
He carded four birdies on the front nine with one bogy at the 10th which helped him to a three under round and share of the lead.
After the round he explained that his accuracy with the driver had helped him to his current position: "It's one of the most important things around here, getting it in the fairway."
Durant who won the Funai classic at Disney World two weeks ago was able to keep pace with the young Australian, his second consecutive round of two under highlighting the consistency of his play at present.
The American also made inroads on the front nine but it was the pars that he saved on the final two holes that enabled him to maintain his position at the top of the leaderboard.
He explained that having found the greenside bunkers on 17 and 18 he just tried to stay patient, though admitted that he felt fortunate to have made his par three on the final hole.
