Three way tie at Spanish Open

29/04/2007

Spaniard Carlos Rodiles has joined Frenchman Gregory Bourdy and England's Stuart Little at the top of the leaderboard on eight-under after two rounds of the Spanish Open.

Little began strongly, making five birdies in the first 11 holes but two dropped strokes towards the end of his round meant he had to settle for a score of three-under.

Co-leader after day one, Bourdy, also carded a round of 69 to maintain his position at the head of the field with Little.

But the Frenchman wasted the chance to go a shot clear overnight when he bogeyed the final hole.

Home favourite, Rodiles, was the biggest mover of the day. He fired in a blemish-free round of 66 to join Bourdy and Little at the top of the leaderboard after consistently picking up birdies throughout the round.

Simon Dyson is still in contention two shots back after his second consecutive round of three-under-par. The Englishman bogeyed the first and last holes which spoilt an otherwise excellent round.

Nick Dougherty is just one shot behind the leaders after completing his second round with a score of one-under.

Ian Woosnam was forced to quit the event after having problems walking.

The Welshman is said to suffer from a rheumatic problem and intends to take a break from the game while seeking further medical advice.

He said: "It's like cramp and I keep going into spasm. I feel like I've got to go flat out just to swing and I'm not going to play again until I feel better."
