Tiger favourite for Masters
05/04/2007
World number one Tiger Woods has been installed as the red-hot favourite to take a 13th major title at this week's US Masters tournament.
The American is looking for revenge after losing out last year to countryman Phil Mickelson, but another trophy at Augusta would be Woods' fifth in the last decade.
In 2006, the 31-year-old tied for third place three shots behind Mickelson but he believes he has made the necessary improvements to his game to come roaring back this time round.
"I did a lot of thinking about last year and what happened," Woods said in an interview on the official Masters website.
"It all comes down to putting. I didn't make enough putts last year and that cost me the victory. That's what I'm working on this year to get ready."
Woods was distracted during last year's tournament because his father Earl was in and out of hospital due to ill health.
But he insists he is now focused and ready to launch an attempt at what is one of his favourite golf courses in the world.
"I love going to that golf course," Woods said of the Georgia setting.
"I fell in love with it watching it on TV, and each and every year I go back, it's one of the greatest places we can ever play.
"The greens there are so pure, so fast and so true, there is little margin for error. They're the most unique greens we ever see."
