Trio share Scandinavian Masters lead
17/08/2007
Germany's Martin Kaymer has moved up through the field to share the second round lead of the Scandinavian Masters with Henrik Nystrom and Sam Walker.
The trio are all resting on a five-under total of 135 heading into Saturday's third round with James Kingston lurking one shot off the pace.
German youngster Kaymer looks to be building some strong momentum heading into the second half of the competition with a composed round of 68 added to an opening 67.
He almost made it back to the Arlandastad clubhouse without a single dropped shot but a narrow miss on a 12-foot par putt at the last put a slight blemish on his afternoon.
Englishman Walker failed to maintain the blistering pace that he had set with yesterday's 65, but a round of 70 was enough to keep him ahead of most of the chasing pack.
Nystrom briefly held the lead before mistakes on the 14th and 16th cost him sole occupation of pole position.
Nick Dougherty managed to resurrect his chances of being at the business end of proceedings by the end of the weekend after making a dreadful start to the day.
The 25-year-old Englishman was four-over after as many holes, but the former Walker Cup star dragged himself back into contention with an eagle and four birdies in blustery conditions.
Edward Rush and Jean-Baptiste Gonnet are tied for fifth place with Dougherty on three-under.
